About Canadian Virtual Doctors in Manitoba

Canadian Virtual Doctors provides telemedicine GP services for adults and children in Manitoba. We can help with non-emergency medicine and preventive healthcare.

If you live in Manitoba and need a GP appointment, we can help with our telehealth service. There is no need to visit a doctor’s office or clinic: take a call with your GP wherever you happen to be (as long as it’s quiet and discreet!) We offer healthcare appointments before, during and after the usual working day for your convenience. Book your doctor appointment using our 24/7 booking system and your GP will call you at the right time.

Our service is a primary care service, but we can refer you on to secondary care if that is needed. Our general physicians will refer you to medical specialists in Manitoba to ensure that you get the best healthcare for your advanced or complex need.

If you live in a remote area or find it difficult to leave the house, then telehealth is a good solution. You can access the expertise of a Canadian GP over the phone without leaving your home.

There is no need to use public transport to get to a clinic; or sit in a doctor’s waiting room. By using our service, you are reducing your exposure to others when you are sick. This prevents the spread of infection within the community.

Canadian Virtual Doctors is not an emergency medical service

If you have a life-threatening emergency, do not try to make an appointment. Please call 911 without delay.

Can a GP make a prescription over the phone?

A GP can write your prescription during your appointment. They will send it to the pharmacy of your choice where it will be filled so you can pick it up.

Can a GP give medical advice without seeing a patient?

About 90% of GP consultations can be done safely over the phone as there are more than 500 illnesses that doctors can treat over the phone. Should your GP deem it necessary, they can arrange a video call to examine you visually. This is most common with skin complaints. And of course, if there is any doubt, they will recommend you see a doctor face-to-face.

Is my medical data safe when I have a GP appointment over the phone?

You can rest assured that your medical information is as safe as it is with your family doctor, as we all use the same record system. This means they can see what you asked us, and what our doctor told you, which ensures continuity of care.
